The official Chelsea website checks on the progress being made by some of our loan players and previews another big week...

Ruben-Loftus-Cheek and Kasey Palmer (pictured above) went up against each other as Crystal Palace hosted Huddersfield Town on Saturday. Premier League debutant Palmer would have been the happier of the two as the newly-promoted side beat the Eagles 3-0, with the Blues man starting in a three-man attacking midfield. Loftus-Cheek also started in an advanced position and his performance was considered a highlight on a disappointing afternoon for Palace.
Tammy Abraham was making his first start in the top flight, in Swansea’s goalless draw at Southampton. The striker played 81 minutes and went close with a first-half header before seeing a goalbound second-half effort blocked.
Kurt Zouma was part of Stoke’s three-man defence, as the Potters fell to a 1-0 defeat against Everton at Goodison. Izzy Brown started for Brighton in Saturday evening’s match against Manchester City, but he came off after 18 minutes with a hamstring injury, the Seagulls going on to lose 2-0.
In the Championship, Ola Aina and Michael Hector were part of Hull’s rearguard as the Tigers beat Burton 4-1, with Aina providing an assist for one of the home side’s goals. Lewis Baker came on as a second-half substitute for Middlesbrough against Sheffield United after completing his loan switch to Teesside on Friday. He was up against Jamal Blackman who was between the sticks for the Blades and it was Boro who came out on top, winning 1-0.
Ike Ugbo came on as a second-half substitute for Barnsley, who were beaten 2-1 by Ipswich at the weekend. The striker scored his first senior goal in last week’s 4-3 EFL Cup win against Morecambe.
It’s been a good week for Lucas Piazon who scored Fulham’s equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Reading on Saturday. That came after Tomas Kalas was sent off for the Cottagers inside the first minute following a professional foul. Piazon had also been on target in the League Cup, grabbing the opening goal for Fulham in their 2-0 win over Wycombe Wanderers.
In League One, Jay Dasilva started for Charlton who lost 2-0 at Plymouth, while Bradley Collins was in goal for Forest Green Rovers in League Two, as they were beaten by the same scoreline at Mansfield Town.
In the National League, Nathan Baxter was between the sticks in two matches for Woking last week – a 3-1 loss at Tranmere followed by a 3-0 defeat at Barrow. Fellow Academy shot-stopper Jared Thompson featured in a thrilling 5-2 win in Chippenham Town’s derby against Bath City last Tuesday, before a 2-0 loss to Braintree Town on Saturday.
In the Eredivisie, Marco van Ginkel scored PSV Eindhoven’s third in a 3-2 win over AZ Alkmaar. Fankaty Dabo started in defence for Vitesse who beat NAC Brada 4-1, with Charlie Colkett and Matt Miazga both coming off the bench.
Todd Kane made his first appearance for Groningen, coming off the bench to play the final eight minutes of an entertaining game as they drew 3-3 with Heerenveen.
In Belgium, Victorien Angban was a late substitute for Waasland-Beveren who won 3-0 at Oostende.
Mario Pasalic opened the scoring in Saturday’s Moscow derby in the Russian Premier League. He netted early in the second half for Spartak, but CSKA won 2-1 thanks to two late goals. Pasalic had also been in midweek action, starting in midfield, and providing an assist, in a 2-0 win against Arsenal Tula.
In Serbia, Danilo Pantic started for Partizan as they won 1-0 at Vojvodina.
