JDT football club donates RM500,000 prize money to Penang flood victims

JOHOR BARU: The Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) football club will be contributing the RM500,000 it received for winning the Malaysia Cup to Penang flood victims.
JDT president Tunku Tun Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Ibrahim said the club was fulfilling its pledge to contribute the prize money to ease the plight of flood victims.
"We will hand over a cheque worth RM500,000 to Captain Mohd Fahmy Bin Yahya as JDT's Honourary Secretary and he will hand it over to a flood relief fund in Penang by today," said Tunku Tun Aminah on the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page.
She had said last week that the assistance was in line with the JDT's policy of helping those in need.
JDT's owner Tunku Mahkota Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, had previously decreed for the club to continue helping people who were affected by disasters.
In the past, the club has provided assistance and aid to state governments which faced big disasters. This included assistance given for flood victims in Pahang and Kelantan, and earthquake victims in Sabah.
JDT, under Portuguese coach Ulisses Morais, won the Super League for the fourth successive time before lifting the Malaysia Cup for the first time by overcoming Kedah 2-0 in the final at Shah Alam Stadium on Nov 4.
