Two men duel to be best coach of the season
KUALA LUMPUR: Not only will the Malaysia Cup final act as the season-ender, it will also determine the best coach of the season.
Kedah coach, Nidzam Adzha Yusoff and Johor Darul Ta’zim’s (JDT) Ulisses Morais have one trophy each under their belt, and a Malaysia Cup win will see one of the two emerges as a double winner.
For Nidzam Adzha, it’s about defending the Red Hawks’ Malaysia Cup title, which was won last season, but for Morais, it will be an opportunity to create history as the first-ever Southern Tigers coach to complete a domestic trophy haul.
The Malaysia Cup is the only trophy four-time Super League champions JDT have yet to lay their hands on.
Nidzam Adzha wants to ensure that the Malaysia Cup trophy stays in Kedah.
“I just want to carry out my responsibilities as a coach and leave the rest to the players as they are the ones on the field,” he said today.
“But I am convinced I have prepared the best team for the final. Maybe the Shah Alam Stadium will once again bring us luck.
“We also hope the winner will be decided in 90 minutes but whatever happens may it be during added time or penalty kicks, we are ready.”
